How Cartwright Orthodontics Supports the Bethel Park Community
Dr. Gary Cartwright, Dr. Nicholas Palmer, and the Cartwright Orthodontics team are all proud to be an integral part of the community here in McMurray and Bethel Park, and we want to support our neighbors however we can. That’s why we do the following:
- We regularly make donations to local schools in the area in order to support their athletic programs and their organizations centered around the arts.
- We encourage the pursuit of higher education by awarding scholarships for our patients – both past and present!
- We regularly contribute to two local food banks.
- Dr. Cartwright proudly volunteers with the American Association of Orthodontics, serving children in need.

Dr. Gary Cartwright, an orthodontist with offices McMurray & Bethel Park, recently awarded four $500.00 scholarships to four high school seniors; two girls and two boys. Every year he conducts an essay contest for all past and present patients who are furthering their education. The topic was “What would you like to study after high school and why?” Winners this year: Nicholas Pirollo of Canonsburg, PA, son of Robert and Rona Pirollo, will be attending Westminster College to study Nursing; Gannon McDonough of Washington, PA, son of Kirk and Debra McDonough, will be attending Allegheny College to study Biochemistry; Allison Paxton of Canonsburg, PA, daughter of Jon and Tonya Paxton, will be attending Bethany College to study Special Education; Emily Trew of Canonsburg, PA, daughter of Gregg and Tracey Trew, will be attending Robert Morris University to study Nursing. This is the nineteenth year Dr. Cartwright has awarded this scholarship.
Dr. Cartwright Helps Boy SCouts & Girl Scouts earn their Dental Merit Badge
Over the past several years boy scouts and girl scouts have attended dental events hosted by Dr. Gary Cartwright. They learn about good brushing, healthy foods, basic tooth structure, what causes cavities, gingivitis, periodontal disease and the damage smoking and chewing tobacco cause to teeth
The scouts are able to drill into actual teeth and they can have panoramic x-rays taken showing their full mouth. Finally, they get to finish off the day with pizza.
Great information is discussed about how to care for your teeth so they last a lifetime and who knows, maybe this inspires a scout to pursue the field of dentistry or orthodontics!
